Mosaic

If your life seems
shattered
like broken glass
by an eating disorder,
trauma,
or adversity...
in whatever form it may take,
look at the beautiful colors
of the pieces that lie at your feet!
Then, slowly begin to pick them up,
one colorful piece at a time,
until you have created
a brilliant mosaic,
lighted up from within
of the new life you now have,
of the new self you have become.
About the Author
Anne lives in CA, where she continues her journey of healing and pursues her love of written expression. About this poem she says:
"I love the image of a mosaic or stained glass window to express how it felt during recovery, when it seemed as if the eating disorder had shattered my life and the lives of those in treatment with me. We were in the process of slowly picking up the pieces and creating something beautiful with them—ourselves. I think this process continues for a long time, but the farther into recovery one gets, the more beautiful the mosaic becomes."
